Peeka (formerly Petra)Mathilda (formerly Morgan)Peeka and Mathilda (Petra and Morgan)

Hi Kylee, Robin, Priscilla et al:

We wanted you to know how Petra and Morgan (now Peeka and Mathilda) are
doing. We adopted Peeka first in January of 2005.  She was extremely shy at
first, however, months of loving care brought out her sweet personality. In
September of 2005 (one year ago) we adopted Mathilda. I think the staff felt
that she might not do well in a home with another cat. Sometimes they do
have little paw fights, but the next thing you know, they will be lying side
by side on the bed.  Their favorite recreation is looking out the screen
door at chipmunks - then they do their little 4-legged dance!

They are very happy and healthy, and we are thrilled to have 2 young cats
again. We have recommended your shelter to many at our church, and recently
our friends adopted 2 kittens there.

God Bless you all,

Gladys & Guy Beaudette

Batman and Spenser - veggie cats!Batman and Spenser
Hello,

We just received your latest Paws for Thought newsletter and enjoyed the stories and pictures.  Thought I'd send you a quick update on Batman and Spenser, the two ! 1-year old kitties we adopted from you in Feb 2005.

We call Batman and Spenser our own crime-fighting (or more often, crime-causing) team.  They are as funny and mischievous as ever!  Turns out they are vegetarians - or so we think.  They never seem to touch meat or poultry, but they love playing with vegetable scraps when we are peeling them in the sink.  And while they are indoor cats, they get their fill of birds, squirrels, chipmunks etc. sitting in our windows and doors.  I'm attaching several pictures I think you might enjoy - maybe you can use one in your newsletter.

#1 - Batman and Spense and their new friend, Mr. Squirrel

#2 - Batman in the cupboard - the cat toys and catnip are on the top shelf - reminds me of that Petco Ad - Don't inhale!!

#3 - Fascination with Veggies

#4 - Can you find me in the tree?  "Oh the Wonder of it All" - we're thinking of using this one for our Christmas card this year!

Hope your kitties all find homes where they are as happy and loved as these two are!

Best,
Connie & Tom Zimmerman

Abby

Just wanted to update you on Abby, the cat I adopted in May 2005 when she was 13 years old. When I brought her home she weighed only 4 pounds. She now weighs 6 pounds and her fur has all come back.  Unfortunately our other cat recently died and she is now the only cat until we adopt another one. She sleeps with me every night and loves to sit on my lap every chance she gets.

We take care of my daughters Belgian Malinois often and the dog and Abby get
along very well. She may have lived with a dog at some time in her life.

People who think an older cat can never adjust to a new environment are completely wrong. It has worked out very nicely for all of us.

ColinColin

Hi Everyone at Pat Brody Shelter,

I adopted Colin two weeks ago, and he has been nothing but a pleasure.    I was at the shelter with my daughter, we were admiring two females. As I was ready to choose one, along came Colin. He got right up on my lap, settled in, and that was it....love at first sight.

We are doing very well.  He is a wonderful kitty.

Thank you,
Carolyn

WyattWyatt and Audrey 4Audrey

Both kittens are wonderful! First night here our little snuggle cat came in for bedtime stories with the kids and decided to sleep with my daughter (the 2 year old). By the second night Wyatt had decided bed time stories were a great snuggle time and joined us. What a great pair of cats!

Thank you so very much
love

Corky and ShadowCorky
Hi everyone,
Remember me Corky?  I have been in my new home for a month now and couldn't be happier.  Everyone who has met me or seen my picture thinks I am so handsome.  Those who have heard it think I've got the funniest and cutest little meow.  I had no problems adjusting to my new home from day one.  I've got a big sister named Shadow, she just turned 10, and a canine companion named Scooter who just turned 15.  Shadow wasn't too thrilled to see me at first but she puts up with me.  She used to hiss at me anytime she saw me  but now its just once in awhile if I get too close for comfort.  She will let me lay near her in a window as long as I'm not in her face.  She's not an aggressive kitty, she just doesn't want to fight and I think she's still afraid that I'm gonna start trouble one day.  I have never hissed at her once.  I'm still getting used to having a canine companion after living with so many cats for so long.  He does not bother me at all but I'm still a  little scared of him, especially when he's getting ready to go for a walk.  For an old dog he sure has a lot of energy when he knows its time to go out.

Hopefully one day I won't be bothered by him anymore and Shadow will let me be her friend.  Thank you for taking care of me while I was at the shelter.
Your Pal,
Corky

Geyser (Formerly Tweedledee)Geyser (Tweedledee)

Hello friends at the Pat Brody Shelter.

Wanted to give you an update on Tweedledee...hope no one will be offended that I renamed him Geyser. which is one of my favorite vineyards in California.  brought him home last night and my cat Griffin hissed a bit at him. but Geyser ignored him and explored every inch of his new home.  After he ran with a play mouse in his mouth for an hour through the house. and then spilled a large bowl of water on the kitchen floor we all went to bed exhausted.  I woke up with him on my pillow curled up next to my head. Guess he likes him new home!  I did take him to my vet today because he was scratching at his right ear.. and does have a bad ear infection which we're treating with medication. but he also has severe gingivitis which I will watch over time. but my vet said will probably result in having to have some dental work at some point.  I will keep you posted.  I love him.  Had a viewing today and my friends think he's adorable.  I have some pretty big
scratches on my back from him leaping from far way to get on my shoulders but imagine I will have to try to break that habit at some point only in anticipation of him getting bigger!  I promise that "Tweedledee" will have a great life with me and Griffin.  They laid next to each other on the back of the couch with no hissing a little while ago. we will all be fine.  Thanks again.

PetuniaPetunia
Just wanted to give you an update on how Petunia is doing in her new home.
We adopted her last Saturday 10/28.

It didn't take her long to get adjusted to her new home.  When we got home,  we had planned on keeping her in our bedroom in the carrier.  But, within 2 minutes we couldn't resist holding and petting her.  When we let her go, she ran around the house inspecting every nook and cranny with no worries.  Our 5 year old cat Lucky growled and hissed at all of us on the first day, but since he seems to be getting more comfortable with his new high energy friend.  The last couple of days they have been lounging together on our couch (not too close to each other) looking out the bay window.  I think it's just a matter of time before they become the best of friends and hopefully inseparable!

We love her and are glad she came into our lives!!!!

Thank You!

Whiskey and TriggerTrigger and Whiskey
To the shelter staff,

Just a quick note to let you all know how my two Pat Brody kitties are doing..... eleven and twelve years after their adoptions!  I can report that they have lived in four states and tolerated many changes with unflagging devotion and patience.  Trigger, adopted in 1994, rules the roost (which now includes THREE large dogs).  Aside from an aural hematoma a few years ago, which left her with a droopy ear, she has enjoyed absolutely perfect health. She has become quite a social girl as long as she has the opportunity to get to check you out first- quite a change from the cat who hid behind the stove for days when she first came to me.  I adopted Whiskey about a year after Trig- he has grown into a pathologically social cuddle-bug with a big mouth. He is tolerant and loving to a fault, and has also been blessed with excellent health.  Their attachment to one another is one of the sweetest things I have ever witnessed.

Attached please find a photo of my dear little ones (Trig is grey, Whiskey orange).  Many, many, many thanks for the incredible work you continue to do for the welfare of countless cats and kittens.

All the best,
Ann Cahoon

Noodles and Penny
I thought you'd like to see our two darlings, both PBS alumni --
Noodles from 1994 and Penny from last year.  Aren't they the cutest
things?  They rule our lives with their lovely double paws.
